LETTERS TO KARA

Who is Kara?
Kara is my journal of 14 years, named after the heroine of Scott O' Dell's book, the Island of the Blue Dolphins. In 1998, parts of my journal were published in my first book, Kara: Letters and Stories. Four years ago, Kara, which also means face in Filipino was published online here. The journal, like my life, is undergoing change. This is only a continuum.

Showbiz Writer
Dear Kara,

I am now officially a Showbiz Writer!

I got one of my Faith Goals a little lte this year, but I still think that this new byline, s an online showbiz and celebrity freelance writer, is early for my birthday!

I still can't believe that my article for a GMA 7's Celebrity Duets made it... Well, I guess I can now be classified as a showbiz junkie, heehee. I jumped up and down today, when I found out from my editor, Jocelyn, that my article was accepted, because...hello...having another byline is the equivalent of eating chocolates and being in-love! Hurrah!

I still think sometimes that I may have sold my writing soul to the showbiz-devil, but hey, a byline is still a byline, showbiz writer, editor, feature writer, or otherwise! Besides, I wrote what I thought, so that isn't really selling your writing soul, is it?

anyway, I'm just happy...happy that I have now ventured into another genre of my editing and writing career, and happy...because I have been published again. Makes me smile. :)

Missing Blogs
Dear Kara,

Just when I thoiught I was going to finifh my first semester of teaching without so much as a sneeze, I got terribly sick, and proceeded to spend five days of bedrest while my fellow English Instructors were agonizing over the last two weeks of school, and subsequently, the grades.

Happily, that's now over, and I noticed that I lost a few more pounds due to lack of appetite when I was sick. (Hooray!)

There are only two weeks left of school, and I'm happy that I have finally finished all my lessons...just a few more days to go: giving finals, exit tests, and grade computations...then I'm officially done with my first sem of teaching! Praise the Lord!

I was telling MJ last night that i felt happy because I know that I did not just enter those classrooms with the intent to teach...I know I have changed even a few hearts in those ten classrooms...

What's more, in just one semester, I've made quite a few more friends among co-teachers...and to Sanguaine Shing, THAT is a lways a happy thought.

October is in, and that means I have to think about enrolling soon...

Sigh...I mis blogging, and frankly, that's mainly the reason why I'm writing you now... :)
